West Coast Reining Horse Association Affiliate #3 & #4

Join the West Coast Reining Horse Association as they host the NRHA Affiliate Show #3, June 23 – 27, 2021 at Murieta Equestrian Center in Rancho Murieta, CA.  The show offers all the traditional classes you would find at a reigning show including open, non-pro, rookie, and youth classes.  Schooling classes will be held on June 22nd.

Nick Dowers – Horsemanship & Reining

Nick won the 2019 Reno Snaffle Bit Futurity on Sept. 15th!  He is also the 2019 Road to the Horse Colt starting Champion held in March. 

At the 2013 NRCHA Snaffle Bit Futurity Nick came in a stock trailer with a horse and a dream and ended up taking home the Open Champion title aboard Time For The Diamond.  Now, Dowers continues to run his program based on getting through to the horses mind, “I want to be able to train my horses to the highest level, but not lose my horsemanship integrity to do it. Keeping the horse in mind is a big part of what I do. I need to know what to do, when to do it and why to do it……………….. Do not miss this opportunity ride with Nick! 

Gold N Grand Summer 2012

Another great Gold N Grand came and went. In addition to the horse show and the shopping, there was free snow cones everyday, a water slide, a barn party and a pancake breakfast! I think the two new covered arenas are a welcomed addition particularly to this show.

People showed their generosity for their fellow horse showers by donating some great items to the Family of Chris Kozlowski silent auction. The bidding was hot and heavy up to the last seconds and from the looks of the bidding sheets, people were bidding generously also. A celebration of life service was held on Monday after the show.

Magnificent 7 Final Results

As always, the Magnificent 7 was the highlight of the Western State Horse Expo. The stands were packed and people were treated to come great horsemanship. An exciting drill team pattern was performed and the national anthem sang.  A wonderful presentation from Bikers Against Child Abuse (B.A.C.A.). $1 from every ticket sold was donated to B.A.C.A. Several of the members drove their bikes on the sidewalk right in front of the stands. The entries of Project Cowgirl also made an appearance.

Spring 2012 Gold N Grand Pictures

Wow, did the exhibitors ever luck out with the weather at this years spring Gold N Grand! With rain threatening the whole weekend the schedule was planned for everyone to have a covered place to show, well, except the trail people! However, it never actually rained during the day. Trail was pretty muddy on Sunday, but everyone managed well. The reining pens were a little crowded since they had to cut down the arenas to make a small warm up area for them. Friday, the weather was beautiful, and Saturday was cold. English classes were only about 2 hours long, and everything else used most of the day. Most of the classes I saw were well attended, and there were plenty of vendors for shopping! Results have not been posted as of yet, but the awards were beautiful. Saddles for weekend high points, buckles to top five weekend circuit winners, and embroidered halters for AQHA weekend circuit winners. The photographer for the show was Shane Rux. Red Bluff Bull & Gelding Sale

Last month SacHorse.com traveled to the famous Red Bluff Bull & Gelding Sale at the Tehama County Fairgrounds in Red Bluff, CA.  The Bull & Gelding Sale has lots to see.  For the equine enthusiasts there are multiple events in which horses and mules are worked as they are in preparation for the Gelding sale including shown at the halter, roping, and ranch exercises.  For the ag enthusiasts there is the whole world of beef production on display plus the workings of that vital ranch tool, the working cow dog.  Throw in a trade show, art show, bull riding and the “Sale” is not to be missed.  Join us in this photo essay as we spend an afternoon walking the grounds and showing you the sights right up until that exciting Friday night of the Gelding Sale.
