Shandoni Ranch Hunter Jumper Series

One of most well-known hunter/jumper barns in the Sacramento area is hosting their 2021 hunter/jumper show series.  Shandoni Ranch, located in Elverta, will host six horses shows between May and October.  Classes include lead line, walk, pony, flat classes, hunters, equitation, and jumpers.  Classes will qualify for year end championship divisions.  Starting time for the show for both rings will be 9:00 am.  Jumpers will not start before 1:30 pm.  This show is Sacramento Area Hunter Jumper Association (SAHJA) approved.

  • Sunday, September 12: Ring I – Peggy Fackrell; Ring II – Amy Young
  • Sunday, October 10: Ring I – Clint Sawyer; Ring II – Peggy Fackrell

Doreen Irwin has been hosting and managing shows since the 1980’s at her spacious facility just north of Sacramento California.  Shandoni has two show arenas and a warm up arena and plenty of wide open, flat parking.  The facility is family friendly with seating stands, shade canopies and trees, refreshments and fun!

Gold Country Obstacle Course

The Gold Country Obstacle Course is a perfect opportunity to see well your horse can handle obstacles in the wild.  This one-day event will consist of two different challenges.  In the morning, the Gold Country In-Hand Obstacle Course will test your ability to lead your horse through a series of obstacles.  This course is perfect for everyone including minis, weanlings, yearlings, burros or riders who are not ready to attempt the mounted obstacle challenge.  In the afternoon, the Gold Country Mounted Obstacle Course will test you ability to guide your horse through the obstacles while riding. 

Both events are designed to be competitive, educational, and fun.  Proceeds from this event will benefit the Modoc Mustang Training program.  For more information about the Modoc Mustang Training program, please click here.

The Gold Country Obstacle Course will take place at the El Dorado County Fairgrounds in Placerville, California on July 17th.  Snacks and water will be provided but is is recommended that you bring your own lunch.  There will be awards for 1st through 6th place Novice, Intermediate, and Advanced as well as awards for Junior, Youngin’, and Newcomer.

Brookside Splash

Let’s Show is a fun and exciting hunter jumper show series happening at Brookside Show Park in Elk Grove.  The Brookside Splash will take place on June 24th through the 27th and will feature Sacramento Area Hunter Jumper Association (SAHJA) Medal Finals and two hunter derbies.  This show is also part of the Muriel B. Gill, the Area Barbee Jumper Series, Lorraine Smith Pleasure Series, and the Tack Warehouse Equitation Series.  This show is approved by the Pacific Coast Horse Shows Association (PCHA) and SAHJA.

Let’s Show Beach Party

Let’s Show is a fun and exciting hunter jumper show series happening at Brookside Show Park in Elk Grove.  The Let’s Show Beach Party takes a day at the beach and applies to a horse show.  The Beach Party will take place from June 9th through the 13th.  The Show will have all the regular hunter and jumper classes and will ad special events such as Pink Day Friday and Hawaiian Shirt Weekend on Saturday & Sunday.  On Sunday morning before the Brookside Cup, join in on the Running of the Flamingos.  All runners must look like a flamingo and be able to dance.

USEF/AVA West Festival

One of the premier events in all of competitive vaulting comes to the Murieta Equestrian Center in Rancho Murieta in August.  The American Vaulting Association (AVA) and United States Equestrian Federation (USEF) will hold the USEF/AVA West Festival from August 11th through the 16th.  The Festival is the last major event prior to the USEF/AVA National Championship.  The West Festival offers USEF and AVA Classes as well as classes unrecognized by either association such as tiny tots and novice individual and barrel classes.  For more information on the show as well a list of classes, information on stabling, and forms and waivers, please visit their site by clicking here.

Gold-N-Grand

Come and enjoy, Gold-N-Grand Summer Horse Show, one of, if not the, largest all-breed horse show on the West Coast.  The Gold-N-Grand Summer show will be held July 9th through the 11th at Murieta Equestrian Center in Rancho Murieta, CA.  High Point Divisions include Youth 10 & Under, Youth 13 & Under, Youth 18 & Under, Youth 14-18, Trail,, Amateur 19 & Over, Amateur 45 & Over, and All Around Open Horse.  There are also high point awards for reining, ranch horse, and english classes.

Cowboy Dressage World June Gathering

Cowboy Dressage World, the premier event for cowboy dressage, will be held at the Sonoma County Fairgrounds in Santa Rosa on June 19th and 20th.  The horse show will take place on both Saturday and Sunday.  On Saturday evening, June 19th, Cowboy Dressage World (CDW) Partners, Lyn Ringrose Moe and Garn Walker will provide a clinic on how to improve your test score and not give away points.  Cost per rider is $80 or $75 for CDW Remuda Member.  For more information and to access the show premium or the entry form, please visit https://cowboydressageworld.com/event/june-gathering-in-sonoma/.
