While the National Reined Cow Horse Association Snaffle Bit Futurity is the world’s largest event for 3-year-old cow horses, the show also hosts a full slate of NRCHA approved horse show classes. On Thursday, Sandy Collier and Stressolena claimed one of the ancillary titles – that of the Open Two Rein – with a 440.
Collier, who holds the distinction of being the only woman to ever win the Snaffle Bit Futurity, won $3,564, a Bob’s Custom Saddle sponsored by Paul and Amy Bailey, a Gist Silversmiths buckle sponsored by Wagonhound Land & Livestock, a Cinch vest from Bob’s Custom Saddles, Platinum Performance, and a CR Morrison trophy and commemorative medallion.
“His rein work was really good and I got a great cow and he just did his job the way he knows how,” Collier said following the awards ceremony. “He’s a great horse and is so easy to show. I just love him!”
Stressolena, by CD Olena out of Stressin, is owned by Luann Beach of Santa Barbara, California. “I thank Luann for being such a wonderful owner and buying me such a nice horse to show. She purchased him about nine months ago from Tammy Fink and we’re qualified for the NRCHA World Championship Show in the Two Rein and the Bridle,” Collier explained.
The pair also qualified for the Snaffle Bit Futurity Open Bridle Finals, which will be held Friday afternoon.
Lyn Anderson and Meet Rippen Diamonds, by Like A Diamond out of Cee Bars Rip, earned the Open Two Rein Reserve Championship with a 434.5. The Reserve title came with a check for $2,851, a Cinch vest from Bob’s Custom Saddles, Platinum Performance, and a CR Morrison commemorative medallion. Meet Rippen Diamonds is owned by Dick Hershamn of Wildomar, California.
