Building A Strong Foundation Pt. 1

THE BASICS Pt. 1 – Groundwork and Riding

DATE: Saturday February 24, 2018
PLACE: Pioneer Park Arena – 6470 Fairplay Road Somerset, CA.
TIME: 9:30 AM – 4:00 PM
PARTICIPANT FEE: $45.00 per horse/human team (includes lunch, preparation hand-out and 15+ page Program Notes)
AUDITOR FEE: $10.00 per Auditor (includes lunch)
LIMIT is 12 horse/humans teams.

This is the first of a three part workshop series. To get the MOST value out of the workshops we suggest attending all three. However that is not required.

Please bring and use a snaffle bit for this session. Thanks!

FOCUS: We will be covering the BASICS of groundwork and riding! Participants will be learning how to improve communication and control with their horses on the ground as they work on the “five body parts” and the basic skills of moving forward, backward, left and right with minimal cues. Under saddle we will work on improving the “throttle control” and “steering” through a series of riding exercises.

This session is ideal for horses that are “new to you”, are project horses and for those who are new to the art of horsemanship.


GROUND WORK PREREQUISITES (you will want to have done these things with your horse):
1) Have an understanding of lunging on a lead line at the walk, trot and lope.
2) Have lead the horse on the lead line.
3) Can pick up the horse’s feet.


RIDING PREREQUISITES (you will want to have done these things with your horse):
1) Have at least five (5) rides on your horse at the walk and jog.
2) Horse and human should have a basic understanding of leg and rein cues and respond safely to them.

RSVP INSTRUCTIONS: 1) Email us at luckystarhorsemanship@gmail,com to confirm there is space available. 2) Once space is confirmed send your workshop fee DEPOSIT of $20 via PayPal (we also accept checks) by following the instructions we will provide. 3) The BALANCE of the workshop fee is due before the session or ON SITE (cash or check please). RSVP’s and deposits will need to be submitted by February 20, 2018

SUGGESTED EQUIPMENT: A good, stiff rope halter, 10-14’ lead rope, a training stick of some kind. A chair and your favorite beverage.

REFUNDS: If you have RSVP”s and sent in your workshop fee and for some reason need to cancel you can receive a 100% refund if you cancel IN WRITING via email at luckystarhorsemanship@gmailcom February 20, 2018.
